Neighbourhood Shopping Centres Master Plan

 

Neighbourhood shopping centres are a vital part of Frankston's economy and are highly valued by their local communities.

The aim of the master plan is to provide guidelines for their revitalisation and upgrading.

As well as building on the individual character of each shopping centre, the upgrades also aim to provide:

• Quality pedestrian environments, identifiable for their individual and community character
• More attractive and desirable places to work and visit
• New street trees and plantings that relate to the centres' location

Recent upgrades unclude:

• Belvedere Shopping Centre
• Beach Street East Shopping Strip
• Foot Street Shops
• Overport Road Shops

 

The master plan covers 22 neighbourhood shopping centres across the Frankston municipality. The master plan was completed in February 1999 and is being progressively implemented.
