Ironman Asia Pacific Championship

"The 2012 Ironman Asia Pacific Championship is one of nearly 30 annual calendar events worldwide. Athletes will compete for a professional prize purse of $100,000 USD and 75 age group qualifying slots to the 2012 Ironman World Championship, more than any other race in the Asia Pacific region".

Frankston will host Ironman Asia-Pacific Championship on March 25, 2012. The 3.8km swim will take place on the Frankston foreshore, the 180km bike leg will wind its way through Frankston City's streets heading to Eastlink, and the 42.2km run will begin in Frankston too. It's the first event of this magnitude to come to Australia's shores...

This event provides a fabulous opportunity to showcase Frankston City's ten kilometres of award winning beaches, our City during its transformation, our retail offering, as well as our unique lifestyle and locality, just a forty minute drive from Melbourne on contemporary motorways; as well as just a hop, skip and a jump from the greater Mornington Peninsula!
The Ironman sold out in five minutes and five seconds, a new record for ironman registration. There will be 3000 competitors. Put March 25, 2012 in your diary, it's sure to be a spectacular event for Frankston!
