Frankston City offers lifestyle choices that suit most people. While there is everything anyone could need provided in the city centre, the municipality is a great base from which to enjoy southeast Melbourne's diverse environment of sea, city and country.

Frankston City is one of Victoria's largest regional shopping and service centres with retail outlets ranging from large department stores to boutiques, as well as a full range of commercial services. Away from the commercial centre, markets and specialty stores of the Mornington Peninsula showcase local produce and arts and crafts.

Built on the southern reaches of Port Phillip Bay, Frankston has excellent access to beaches and water sports such as swimming, surfing, sailing, fishing and wind-surfing. There are indoor and outdoor facilities for a variety of sports such as tennis, squash, soccer, football and bowls, and trails for bike riding and bushwalking. The area is also well known for its world-class golf courses.

Frankston offers land and housing options that range from suburban blocks to seaside dwellings or rural allotments. Quality public and private health facilities provide services to all members of the community, from children in child care through to the aged receiving community health and support services.

There are excellent education opportunities for all. Public and private schools provide for children at primary and secondary levels, while colleges and universities offer academic, vocational and self-improvement courses.  

Frankston has a variety of cultural and entertainment venues sure to cater for every taste. Frankston Arts Centre is a major venue for musical, theatrical and artistic events. The municipality also has a choice of nightclubs, cinemas, hotels and restaurants.

Centre of Activity 

Frankston City is the centre of activity in this growing region. It is the commercial, retail and cultural hub providing access to all types of services and activities. It draws on customers from the inner suburbs to the north, Cranbourne in the east and from the Mornington Peninsula.

Commercial services include banking and finance, accounting, personnel and legal services and government agencies. There are also well established business networks recognising and encouraging the potential of the region. 

There are more than 900 retail outlets in Frankston ranging from large department stores to specialty shops and services providers.  There are also considerable accommodation and conference facilities supporting tourism and commerce.

Frankston City also offers a diverse range of cultural, entertainment, sport and recreation facilities. In addition to Frankston Arts Centre, there is a plethora of galleries and museums. There are also heritage buildings reflecting the region's proud history. While the bay attracts many to the water, there are also excellent facilities for many other sports.
