Cr. Sandra Mayer is a first time councillor, elected as an East ward councillor on the 30 Nov 2008.

Sandra has an Arts degree with a major in music from La Trobe University, and has also completed a year of Psychology at Ballarat University with high distinctions. She has several years of experience working in hospitality, and most recently has been working in the health care industry, in both high and low care. She has been working towards completing Certificate 3 in Aged care, and intends on doing a Certificate 4, Lifestyle and Leisure, before applying to Melbourne University for a Master of Music Therapy.

Sandra is a composer and musician, and has recorded a CD of classical piano music, which received airplay nationally on SBS and ABC Classic FM in 2002, and is subsequently a member of the Australian Performing Rights Association (APRA).

Sandra is the proud mother of two primary school-aged boys, who she is raising on her own.

At the Statutory meeting held on 29 November 2010, she was elected as the Deputy Mayor for the coming year.
