We manage the aged and disability services within the municipality by providing a range of integrated, high quality and responsive home and community based services to older people, people with disabilities and their carers in order to maintain their dignity and independence within the community.
  • We have over 300 staff and volunteers that are involved in providing services to the Frankston community
  • We have approximately 3,000 clients with an average of 2,200 receiving services each month who rate the service with a 92% satisfaction rating
  • We support in excess of 30 Seniors Clubs and groups across the municipality
  • 62,414 meals on wheels delivered
  • 10,297 hours of community care provided 
  • Assisted 3000 clients with home and community care services

 


Family and Youth

Who we are What we do Key Performance Indicators
We develop and provide a range of quality services to support and enhance the health and wellbeing of families, children and young people throughout greater Frankston. We provide advice to Council and the community on all issues relating to children, families and young people so that Council can advocate and lobby other levels of government for additional resources.
  • The Council provides Maternal and Child Health support to 10,812 children aged 0-6 years and over 18,043 immunisations each year
  • There are approximately 33,800 contacts with young people by the Youth Services Team
  • We support 25 kindergartens and six neighbourhood houses across the municipality
  • Manage two child care centres, implement and deliver Family Day Care, Out of School Hours and Vacation Care
  • Conducted 28,000 maternal and child health checks
  • 596 families using family day care
  • 204 family day care places
  • 56 carers conducted 950 family day care field visits
  • Children in long day care (Candlebark Child Care Centre) 80 per cent of 40 daily places
  • Children in long day care (Lakewood Child Care Centre) 94 per cent
  • 1721 four year old kindergarten applications
  • 1834 birth notifications
  • 824 first time mothers - 44.9 per cent of total births

Libraries and Learning

We provide flexible access to library resources (books, computers, films and music), enhance opportunities for literacy and learning and increase community development opportunities to promote a vibrant local culture and sense of belonging.
  • Provide library services to 500,000 people (including 65,882 members) 107 hours per week with a customer satisfaction rating of 94%
  • Deliver programs for children that attract over 10,000 attendees annually
  • Issue and return over 1,000,000 items annually
  • 69,301 current library members
  • 1,076,990 library loans
  • 439,052 library visits
  • 208,473 library items in collection
  • 26,748 new library items added to collection
  • 121 home library service members
  • 10,693 participants in story time
  • Volunteers contributed more than 4000 hours to the Libraries and Home Library Service

Compliance and Safety

We provide a range of services to improve the safety and amenity of Frankston. Council seeks voluntary compliance with legislative requirements by the community; where this is not achieved, enforcement is applied to ensure all residents are afforded a community that respects the need for a safe and enjoyable environment
to live, work and visit.

Provision of a range of community safety programs including fire safety management, school crossings supervision, CCTV monitoring, ambassadors, graffiti and litter management, actions to address reduction in hooning and management of the alcohol accord:

  • Environmental Heath Services
  • Local Laws, Prosecutions and Animal Management Services
  • 1248 incidences of graffiti recorded (1/2/2011 -31/7/2011); 3436 incidences recorded last year (1/7/10 - 30/06/11)
  • 64 traffic/parking court prosecutions recorded (16/08/10 - 30/06/11)
  • 74 supervised school crossings
  • 4074 children used school crossings daily
  • 27,959 (2010 Calendar year) dogs and cats registered
  • 2099 (2010 Calendar year) dogs and cats impounded
  • 127 (2010 Calendar year) park reserve pet patrols
