We are one of the largest metropolitan and regional arts venues in Australia. Our world class theatre attracts icons of Australian performance including Melbourne Symphony, OzOpera and the Australian Ballet amongst others. We also attract large and touring international artists and performers and play host to a range of events including corporate seminars and community expos, gala dinner dances and awards ceremonies.
Our creative arts space, Cube 37, attracts new media artists and houses a wet studio, workshop rooms, digital media suite and exhibition galleries.
  • Comprises a 800 seat theatre, 190 seat theatre, large function space, digital art studio/exhibition space and Box Office facilities
  • Attracts over 300,000 people annually who rate our customer service greater than 95%
  • Present a balanced performing and visual arts program which is accessible, provides broad appeal, creative choice and growth
  • 193,784 visitors to the Frankston Arts Centre, out of this total 21,161 visitors attended Cube 37
  • 250 theatre performances were held at the Frankston Arts Centre

Planning and Building

Who we are What we do Key Performance Indicators
We are Strategic Planners who work with the community and State Government planning services to set the land use vision for the municipality and the policy framework to realise the vision. Statutory planners focus on the timely assessment of development, land use, and subdivision proposals and the building team focus on the quality of the constructions of buildings throughout the municipality, including enforcing and administering the requirements of the Building Act 1993. The Department also has an education and enforcement role which is focused on ensuring all land use and development is compliant with relevant legislation.
  • Approximately 900 planning applications are determined annually
  • The Municipal Strategic Statement has been recently reviewed and includes a prioritised work plan for the next four years
  • Building assess and approve approximately 5% of all building permits within the Frankston municipality
  • Building consists of various tasks including statutory advice and assistance, as well as approximately 2500 certificates, 2200 lodgements, 500 document retrievals, 900 inspections, 180 enforcement notices and over 120 building permits (5-10%)
  • 974 planning applications received
  • 743 planning permit and notice of demolition applications approved
  • 68 planning applications refused
  • 55 lapsed planning applications
  • 173 VCAT appeals lodged
  • 101 planning appeals against refusal
  • 25 planning appeals against approval (objector)
