Rt Hon. Viscount Stanley Melbourne Bruce

Rt Hon. Viscount Stanley Melbourne Bruce
Lord Bruce started in Australian politics as the Nationalist Party's candidate for the seat of Flinders.

In 1922 Lord Bruce succeeded William Hughes to become Australia's second youngest Prime Minster at the age of 39.
During his six years as Prime Minister, Lord Bruce's government sought management of imperial trade in Australia's interests, and was a voice for Australia in shaping British foreign policy.

Lord Bruce was Australia's representative on the League of Nations, a member of the Australian War Cabinet, Chairman of the World Food Council and the first Chancellor of the Australian National University. He passed away in August 1967.

Lord Bruce and his wife resided in their Mediterranean inspired residence, Bruce Manor, in Frankston.
