Has your Business looked into the crystal ball?
When was the last time you thought about the long-term prospects for your business? Many business operators are understandably swept up in their day-to-day dealings and do not take the time to think about the long-term future of their business. Not thinking long term can often prove detrimental to a business' future.
There are a number of recent/current issues that will inevitably affect your business in one way or another, including the impact of the drought, a possible increase in water and electricity costs, an ageing labour supply, appealing to the technologically savvy customer of tomorrow, and the impact of Eastlink on Frankston City.
All of these questions are long-term issues that many businesses are not equipped to address or are not aware of. So what can you do? Firstly, you can 'get in the know' - do some research and find out what trends and issues may have an impact on your customers and your business. For example, as a result of water restrictions nursery and gardening businesses have been required to adapt their stock so that plants require little or no irrigation. Those operators who were proactive in identifying this had a competitive advantage over those that did not.
Secondly, your business can become equipped to deal with some of these issues through training. Training is proven to grow businesses and assist in dealing with some of the issues mentioned.
A wide range of training is available to businesses through Frankston City Council. Whether it is staff, managers or owners, the training is designed to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of your business. A wide range of issues are covered throughout the year.
