Karingal Access Project
Some streets in Karingal are difficult to use, particularly for parents with children in a stroller, wheelchair users or people with walking frames. The Karingal Access Project was a Frankston City Council project, working with Karingal Heights Primary School and McClelland Secondary College, and supported by the Disability Access and Inclusion Committee. The aim of the project was to raise awareness of the little things people can do to make it easier for all people to get around their local area.
These little things include:
- Cut back trees and bushes so they do not hang over the footpath
- Park your car in the drive way, not on the footpath or on the nature strip
- Cut back grass and garden beds so they don't grow out over the footpath
- Sweep gum nuts and branches off the footpath
- Help look after the nature strip
