Environmental Friends Groups

Primary School Children at Wallace Avenue Reserve

Friends' Volunteer Week - Every Week !

Scores of local volunteers in Friends groups look after our precious natural environment every week or month - year in, year out. Frankston City is one of the most fortunate municipalities in Victoria, with 14 active Friends groups working with council to look after our natural reserves. They help control weeds, assist with revegetation, monitor the health of waterways and bush land and help educate local students and community groups about the natural environment.

These environmental heroes are always in need of helpers. If you would like to do something practical to help look after your local natural reserve - every once in a while or regularly - then contact a Friends Group near you! Some meet on weekends, some during week days, and all would love more helpers. If you're not able to help in a physical way "on the ground" there are still many other types of assistance that are appreciated. Why not give them a call and see how you can join in?

Please feel free to contact your local group for more information, or contact Frankston City's Environmental Education and Volunteer Support Officer on 9784 1768 or email environment@frankston.vic.gov.au.
