The Karingal Family & Children's Hub is a "one stop shop" local centre that will promote and facilitate community connectedness so it becomes a focal point for the Karingal community. The centre will provide a range of services and activities in an integrated way, including children's services, health activities, education, recreational and community support services.

The Karingal Family & Children's Hub is a facility that will offer a range of services and activities that will be integrated, not just co-located to better support and respond to the diverse needs of the people of Karingal. It will build upon local community strengths and networks, and promote greater community connectedness and empowerment. It is seen to be an iconic project for the Frankston municipality that will engender excitement and pride in the local community, and provide a concrete example of State and Local Government working in partnership with the local Karingal community to respond to the needs of the Karingal community within a best practice model of service provision.

Community Support Frankston is staffed by trained volunteer community workers. As more Frankston residents have become disadvantaged through social and emotional problems the Centre can directly provide or organise a range of assistance for people in crisis:

  • Homeless in Frankston
  • Emergency Relief assistance
  • Where to find emergency accommodation
  • Permanent residential caravan parks and cabins

They are a great places to develop yourself, your skills, and your potential and to make new friends. Some of the activities you could find on offer:

Lyrebird Community Centre provides the community with a meeting place, where people are welcome to come together and participate in a variety of affordable programs, education and activities including playgroups, computer courses and line-dancing. Orwil Street Community House is a community based support service provider. The house offers a large range of low cost activities for people of all ages, as well as emotional support through professional counselling and various activities in their childcare.

Mahogany Neighbourhood Centre is a dynamic community based organisation working with local residents and agencies to act on issues in the local area. Belvedere is a small friendly centre located off Seaford road. We operate a variety of activities for children and adults at low cost. From playgroups, to computer classes to craft recreation classes we try to find something for everyone. Our classes start at $2.00 and go upwards with our English class for migrants being very popular. Additionally English classes are run for those wanting to extend on their language abilities. We warmly welcome everyone to our community house.
