The Seaford Life Saving Club building will be officially opened on Thursday, 3 July at 3.30pm, and from 4:00pm to 5:00pm the club will be open for the public to inspect the building. The new building will be opened by Frankston City Mayor Alistair Wardle, along with Emergency Services Minister Bob Cameron.

Frankston golfer Jan Constance first headed to Centenary Park Golf Course 18 months ago for �Tea and Tee", and a little bit of fun. Mrs Constance has proved to be quite a golfing natural, though, recently winning a club championship and the ladies District Bowl at Rosebud Golf Course with her Centenary Park team.

The new Frankston Waterfront boardwalk, which connects the Frankston Life Saving Club to the Frankston Yacht Club and beyond, was officially opened by Frankston City Mayor Councillor Alistair Wardle on Thursday, 26 June. The project was a partnership between Council, State Government and the Rotary Club of Frankston Sunrise.

Stage 1 of the Forest Lodge aged care facility in Frankston North will open on Monday, 4 August 2008. The new facility, owned and operated by TLC Aged Care, will accommodate residents from the Frankston City Council operated Milpara Park aged care facility.

Frankston City Council's street sweeping truck will have a brand new look thanks to James Ward from Monterey Secondary College, and Candice Hayes from Mission Australia school in Frankston. The two students are the winners of a Council competition to come up with a design that matched the theme Clean Streets, Clean Beach.

Frankston City Mayor Councillor Alistair Wardle has officially unveiled upgrades at the Bruce Park Tennis Club in a ceremony at the tennis club last Thursday (19 June). Four courts have been resurfaced with synthetic clay which requires no water, and new lighting has been installed to enable greater night time play.

World renowned medical scientist Ruth Bishop has been nominated for the Frankston City Hall of Fame. In 1973, Mrs Bishop was the first person to discover the rotavirus disease, which infects almost every child on the planet by the age of three, and is a major cause of death in third world countries.

More than 1200 dancers from around Australia will converge on the Frankston Arts Centre in July for the seventh annual Phoenix Festival of Dance. The festival will feature solo and troupe performances in classical ballet, contemporary dance, song and tap, jazz, hip hop and other styles of dance.

And it appears to be working, with two Rosebud Secondary College students offered part-time jobs by business operators at the forum.

The 15/15 International Film Festival will screen at AMC Cinemas, on Wednesday, 18 June, from 7:00pm. Entry is free. This year, the festival is screening in 126 locations across Australia - Frankston included - and other countries such as Spain, Germany, Puerto Rico, Canada, Canary Islands, Indonesia and the UK.

Around 50 classic cars, and a handful of vehicles with a difference, will grace Wells Street Plaza (between Thompson Street and Park Lane) in the Frankston city centre on Sunday, 15 June for the Wheels on Wells car show.
