Eleven early childhood services across the Frankston City are making inroads to improve the oral health of our youngest community members by taking part in Smiles 4 Miles  - a Statewide health promotion program devised by Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) to prevent the onset of dental disease in preschoolers.

Community safety is on the move, with Frankston City Council unveiling four new mobile cameras that can be used throughout the municipality to identify people who engage in illegal and anti-social behaviour, and can zoom in from several hundred metres away if required.

Friday, 15 May is Walk to School Safely Day, and Elisabeth Murdoch College along with St Jude's and Langwarrin primary schools - and schools right around the municipality -  are taking part to encourage physical activity and reduce traffic congestion.

The brand new Auskick program is officially   underway in the Pines, and the Frankston Dolphins are getting involved to help "kickstart" the program.

Commencing at the Monday, 4 May Ordinary Meeting, members of the gallery will be able to make submissions to Council on Agenda items at the next three Frankston City Council Ordinary Meetings.

Frankston City Council is getting Education Week started early, with renowned Rhodes Scholar Dr Rufus Black making a presentation on the impact of recent developments on the traditional ways we learn at schools, workplaces, TAFE colleges, universities and other areas of society.

The television series Underbelly has taken Australia by storm, but caused equally as much controversy about    the accuracy of  its depiction of underworld crime in Melbourne. Residents can now hear the story    "from the horse's mouth", with a free evening with Jim O'Brien, the Officer in Charge of the Purana Taskforce.

Frankston City Council is continuing its series of community safety meetings in Langwarrin, aimed at encouraging social behaviour and giving residents the chance to provide direct feedback to Council. The meeting will be held at 6:30pm on Wednesday, 22 April, at the Langwarrin Park Primary School, Northgateway, Langwarrin.

To help tailor services to business' specific needs,  Council's Economic Development team is asking all local businesses to complete the Annual Business Survey for 2009, and offering prizes for those that do.

The White Street Project (WSP) has received an award for Outstanding Social Impact at the Architectural  & Design Excellence in the 2009 South East Awards. WSP currently has two exhibitions on display.

Everyone knows Easter is a great time to hunt for eggs, and the story isn't any different at the Sand Sculpting Australia  - DinoStory exhibition at the Frankston Waterfront. The exhibition is open right across the Easter break, including Good Friday, and children will be able to search for  "sand eggs".

The Life in the City cultural program continues with a free Children's Day on Wednesday, 8 April. And back by popular demand is children's favourite Paul Jamieson  - Music Man and his new Rhythm Island show.

Good Friday is one of just three days in the year when Jubilee Park Aquatic Centre closes its doors. But thanks to the generosity of its staff, who will donate their time for the day, the pool is open for business, with all proceeds going to the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Frankston City has school holiday activities covered, with the Library, Youth Resource Centre (YRC) and Aquatic Centres all having a number of programs on offer.
