Five Free Concerts in February

In 2009, February in Frankston means five weekends of free music and other cultural activities and entertainment on the foreshore. First up, on Sunday, 1 February, is a celebration of freedom and connection featuring Jamaican reggae, East Timorese folk songs, African dance and hip hop.

Visitor Centre Birthday

The Frankston Visitor Information Centre (VIC) is celebrating! And for good reason, yesterday (Monday, 19 January) marked the two year anniversary since the centre first opened its doors to the public on Saturday, 19 January 2007. As an early birthday present, the VIC received its 100,000 visitor shortly into the new year on Friday, 9 January.

New Accommodation House Guidelines

Free Children's Day

The Life in the City cultural program is back again for its sixth year, featuring free outdoor entertainment from January to April in some of Frankston's most beautiful outdoor settings. As is tradition, the first event is a free Children's Day at the George Pentland Botanic Gardens on Wednesday, 21 January, from 10:00am to 12:30pm.

New Junior Fishing Club

The Pines Seaford Fishing Club has launched its new junior fishing club, and is looking to attract new members. Junior membership is free, and the club has all the necessary equipment available for junior members to borrow, thanks to a VicHealth grant and the support of Gone Fishing in Carrum Downs.
Lawton Reserve Upgrade

Some of Australia's best beach volleyballers will be taking to Frankston Beach, alongside the Frankston Waterfront Festival, for Round 2 of the Victorian Beach Volleyball Championships next weekend (17 and 18 January).
Sister City Drummers

The Eisar drumming group from Susono, Frankston's Sister City in Japan, will be performing traditional Japanese festival music on both days of the Frankston Waterfront Festival next weekend (17 and 18 January). The group is in Frankston as part of a 27-strong official Sister City delegation that includes the Deputy Mayor of Susono, Councillors, business representatives and Susono residents.
