Sports Development Plan

Recreation Development Plan

The Parks and Leisure Department is currently undertaking a review of the 2003 Sports Development Strategy, with the view to developing a Sports Development Plan for the coming 5 years for the municipality.

The purpose of the review and the creation of a Sports Development Plan is to:

  • Enable Frankston City Council to respond to the changing and diverse sporting needs of the community
  • Inform the direction, development and delivery of councils recreation and sporting infrastructure over the next five years
  • Be responsive to changing environmental conditions and provide guidelines for sustainable facility development and management
  • Determine a position for council in relation to its role in supporting community, regional and elite sports provision within the municipality
  • Develop a costed and prioritised five year action plan for recommended projects and strategies giving consideration to available capital funding

Community and key stakeholder consultation is an imperative component of this review. Surveying will be conducted with sporting associations, sporting clubs, and the broader community over the coming months.
