Maternal and Child Health

The Maternal and Child Health Service is staffed by nurses who are qualified in general nursing, midwifery and maternal and child health. The Service is provided in local community settings and, where possible, located with other children and family services.

The aims of the Maternal and Child Health service are: 

  • to promote the health and well being of children newborn to six years of age and their families
  • to help mothers and fathers develop their parenting skills and increase their understanding of child behaviour, as well as monitoring growth and development of babies and children
