Street Sweeping Services
Street sweeping is undertaken on Council's residential streets and car parks, every six weeks for most of the year. During autumn, frequency is increased to every three weeks to cope with the additional leaf fall.

Street sweeping and litter control is undertaken in the Central Activities District on a daily basis. Most of this work is carried out after hours to cause as little disturbance as possible to your daily routine. A roving litter contol collection is also completed on a daily basis, with the strip shopping areas being cleared up to three times per week.

A regular program of patrol maintenance for street sweeping and litter control is considered imperative to ensure standards are adhered to.

Facts

  • Approximately 17,000 kilometres of kerbing is swept annually
  • 1270 kilometres of kerb and channel is swept 13 times each year

Drainage
The water that comes off your roof and flows off the streets, goes into the massive network of stormwater drains that run under our local neighbourhoods. The water in these drains then flows into our bays and waterways. To avoid pollution, it is very important to maintain an effective drainage system.

Facts

  • The drainage network that Frankston City maintains, comprises 716 kilometres of stormwater drains and 26,200 stormwater pits.
  • Frankston City conducts a regular program of maintenance including inspections, clearance and replacement to ensure an efficient drainage system.
  • A total of 9200 inspections are carried out annually - that equates to over 37 inspections on average, every working day of the year!

The key benefits to the community of an efficient drainage system are:

  • Protecting from flooding
  • Cleaner waterways - through the reduction of foreign materials running into stormwater drains
