These groups play a major role in the protection and enhancement of our significant Natural Reserves by maintaining remnant species of flora, removing weeds, revegetating and educating the broader community about the values of remnant vegetation and the fauna it supports. Many of the groups have regular working bees in their local reserves and they always welcome new faces

Green Plumber Graduate

GreenPlumbersTM Program

GreenPlumbers is an innovative program developed by the Master Plumbers' and Mechanical Services Association of Australia, supported in partnership with local government.  A series of workshops have been designed to enhance plumbers' skills and knowledge about the environmental considerations of their work.

The first series of workshops were held in Frankston City Council in 2001 and continue in 2003.

These training opportunities place plumbers in a better position to advise and inform consumers on topics such as; the benefits of energy efficiency, water conservation, solar hot water or the most appropriate and cost effective appliances to suit individual needs. The program has the potential to deliver real benefits to the environment with long-term reductions in water usage and greenhouse gas emissions.

Over three evening workshops, participants undergo up to six hours of training on issues that include; sustainable design principles, soil health and natural soil improvers, responsible plant selection, chemicals and alternatives, water conservation and stormwater runoff reduction.

The workshops are offered free to industry participants and are based on the highly successful GreenPlumbersTM program. TheGreenGardenersprogram continues to expand industry training and recognises the important role that landscapers and nursery staff can play in providing the community with good advice on sustainable gardening practices.

The GreenGardeners program is an accredited course with TAFE.Participants who receive an accreditation are listed on the exclusive GreenGardeners web site and are promoted to the general community, enabling homeowners to easily locate an accredited GreenGardener.
