Join In On National Tree Day

Sunday, 2 August is National Tree Day, and Council Natural Reserves Rangers are joining forces with local residents to bring new life to the Seaford Wetlands.

Community members of all ages, backgrounds, shapes and sizes are invited to help return an important pocket of this 305-hectare, internationally recognised wetland to a more natural state

"The trees will provide food and shelter for local wildlife as well as beautifying the environment and helping the wetlands. It's also a fun day to get outside and meet new people."

The National Tree Day planting event will be held in the Seaford Wetlands at the end of Eel Race Road, Seaford from 10:00am to noon. A barbecue lunch will be provided once the planting has been done!

Parking is available at Patterson River Secondary College (Melway Ref: 97 F10), and anyone taking part should bring sturdy shoes, warm clothing, waterproof jacket, a hat and a drink bottle.

National Tree Day is organised by Planet Ark. For more information, go to www.planetark.org or call 1300 885 000.
