Immunisation

Immunisation is a simple and effective way of protecting children (and adults) against harmful infections that can cause serious complications and sometimes death. The vaccine stimulates an immune response, to build resistance to specific diseases. This response is achieved with the aid of the body's natural defence mechanism. The next time the child comes into contact with the infection, the immune system has produced the necessary antibodies needed to destroy the invading germ, resulting in prevention of infection in most cases.
