Frankston City B2B (Business to Business) Grants 2024-25 

Frankston City Council is committed to a thriving local economy and supporting our local business community. 

To encourage increased local B2B (business to business) engagement and awareness, Council is offering a total pool of $100,000 in fixed $1,000 grants on a reimbursement model to Frankston City* businesses to purchase product(s) or service(s) from another Frankston City business. 

*Located within the Frankston City municipality 

Products/services can include (but are not limited to); 

  1. Web design 
  2. Marketing / Advertising / Promotions 
  3. Trades and Services 
  4. Visual Merchandising 
  5. Office equipment 
  6. Façade Improvements 
  7. Branding 

Eligible Frankston City businesses can apply for one (1) fixed $1,000 grant each (inclusive of GST). 

Applications open Monday 3 February 2025 and the program will close by 5:00pm Friday 21 February 2025 or earlier if funds are exhausted prior to this date. All applicants will be informed of the outcome in the week commencing 17 March 2025. 

Grants may be used to contribute towards a purchase of greater value than $1,000. 

Applications will be assessed on a first come first serve basis. The first eligible 100 applicants will be awarded a grant. Once the funds are fully allocated, subsequent applications will not receive any funding.   

Timeline: 

Applications open – 3 February 2025 

Applications close – 21 February 2025 or earlier if funds are exhausted prior to this 

Grant outcomes announced – Week commencing 17 March 2025 

Grant disbursement – From week commencing 24 March 2025 

Last date to submit reimbursement claim – 31 May 2025  

How to Apply 

All applications must be submitted via the SmartyGrants online portal. The “Apply Now” button at the bottom of this page will take you directly to SmartyGrants.  

  • All applicants are required to create a SmartyGrants username and password if registering for the first time. The SmartyGrants program allows applications to be saved, and edited, prior to submission. 
  •  Once logged into SmartyGrants, applicants must: 
  • Provide applicant and business information including main business activity. 
  • Provide product/service provider’s business details. 
  • Upload a written quotation for a minimum of $1,000 (screenshots from online stores are not accepted) and provide total purchase amount.  
  • Quotations must include supplier ABN. 
  • Products/services must not be purchased prior to 24 March 2025 
  • Applicant and supplier must not be related in any way. 
  • Provide a brief description of product/services to be purchased and how this will assist your business 
  • Declare any Conflicts of Interest, read Council’s Privacy Statement and complete the declaration. 
  • All information above must be submitted to complete the application. Incomplete and/or late applications will not be accepted. 

Reimbursement 

  • Grant recipients can claim grant funding from 24 March 2025
  • Grant recipients must submit a payment receipt as evidence that the supplier has been paid, together with an accompanying tax invoice to Frankston City Council to claim reimbursement via the SmartyGrants online portal no later than 31 May 2025
  • The tax invoice being claimed must not exceed $1,000 (inclusive of GST). 
  • Any grant funding allocated and not expended or claimed as above will be forfeited. 

Conditions 

  • Both applicant and product/service provider must be located within the Frankston municipality.  
  • Both applicant and product/service provider must have an active Australian Business Number (ABN). 
  • The grant can only be spent at a maximum of one business. 
  • Applications where the applicant and supplier operate from the same business premises will not be considered.  
  • Product/service providers cannot be immediate family members of the applicant. 
  • The business (applicant) and product/service provider (supplier) must not be an Australian Charity and/or Not for Profit (ACNC) organisation, political organisation or any organisation that excludes or offends parts of the community.  
  • Current Council staff, Councillors, contractors or their immediate family members or elected members of parliament are not eligible to apply for the grant. 
  • The grant cannot be used to purchase Gift Vouchers, sponsorships, etc. 
  • Use of the Grant to pay general business expenses is strictly prohibited (i.e. rent/lease/mortgage, utilities, inventory, telecommunications, wages, insurance, legal disputes, Council costs etc). 
  • Applicants with an existing compliance issue, outstanding debt, business infringement or who have failed to comply with the terms and conditions of any previous business grant agreement with Frankston City Council are ineligible. 
  • Grants are non-transferable. 
  • A quotation and/or invoice from a business/company which the applicant(s) own, operate or are in any way related will not be accepted. 
  • The awarding and disbursement of all grants and grant payments are at Council's discretion. 
  • An applicant whose conduct is deemed by council to be detrimental or harmful to the character or interests of the municipality will not be considered for funding.  
  • Any application that does not align with the core intent of this grant program will not be considered for funding.
