Orwil Street Community House Community Garden
Orwil Street Community House has been a part of the local community for over 47 years. In addition to our established fruit trees, the house now has 6 raised garden beds that we use to grow food for the community and for use in our cooking and gardening programs. There are bush food plants in the garden under the tree in the Orwil Street Reserve as well!
The Garden to Plate Cooking Program learns to grow food in these raised garden beds and will use what’s in season to learn to cook with what they grow. Our aim is to grow as much food in all the raised garden beds as we can, and to use these gardens to teach people how to grow healthy food and how to cook with it. We encourage our neighbours to plant food crops in these gardens and will share excess produce with our neighbours.
If you or anyone you know would like to get involved in growing food or helping us look after these gardens please contact the Orwil Street Community House Office on 9783 5073.
