Council maintains a pet register for cats and dogs over the age of 3 months. As of February 2025, there were nearly 23,000 pets registered:
- 74% were dogs
- 26% were cats
- Average age for both cats and dogs was 9 years
That equates to a pet for approximately every 7 residents.
