It’s now easier to access Frankston beach for people with mobility restrictions. Beach access matting is now available for residents and visitors who use wheelchairs, walkers, or other assistive devices. The matting provides a stable and smooth surface to navigate over the often uneven and soft sand.

Council has been working with community, including Rotary 2.0, Frankston Yacht Club and Accessible beaches Australia, to improve access to our beaches as part of our Disability Action Plan 2021–2025.  Rotary 2.0 led community fundraising efforts for the matting through their annual Duck Derby on Kananook Creek at the Frankston Waterfront Festival.  Frankston Yacht Club has volunteered to manage the matting, available for pick up during their operating hours.
