Frankston’s epic Waterfront Festival back for 25th year!
Published on 31 January 2024
Celebrations of summer just went up a notch with the announcement of the two-day line up of music and events taking place at this year’s Waterfront Festival.
Back for its 25th year, this free event delivers a full weekend of family friendly entertainment.
New experiences this year include the NBL 3x3 Street Hustle, a Glitter Bar to get your festival vibe on, outdoor table tennis action, Betty’s Burgers Beach Club, and of course don’t miss the Rotary Duck Derby!
Deputy Mayor Liam Hughes said the Waterfront Festival is the ultimate celebration of summer: “With two live music stages, fireworks, free family activities, a beer, wine and spirits trail, garden bar, beach activities, rides and amusements, it really delivers beyond your expectations.”
The Waterfront stage will host two days of an incredible line up of music featuring 17 artists performing. Channel your best festival vibes as Touch Sensitive takes the stage alongside crowd favourites The Grogans, Sunshine and Disco Faith Choir, and indie rock Frankston locals The Belair Lip Bombs.
Cr Hughes added: “Live music says it all at the Waterfront Festival with two live music stages including the Ventana Stage – a window into a mosaic of cultures. Ventana will host a vibrant celebration of intercultural entertainment from many nations.”
“The Ventana Stage, nestled within the Yacht Club Precinct, transforms into a bustling hub of global cultures, showcasing almost 20 performances of music and dance across the two days, delivering a melting pot of vibrant rhythms,” he said.
Cr Hughes said: “Don’t miss the epic fireworks display on the Saturday night – with the fireworks taking off from 9.45pm at the Frankston Pier. Make sure you settle in on the waterfront for the best viewing spot.”
The Garden Bar will be running across the weekend full of local sips provided by nearby wineries and breweries keen to be a part of the event. Friday night will have a little festival ‘warm up’ with a Dive In Beach Movie Night taking place on the beach at sunset, hosted by Betty’s Burgers.
For open water swimming fans, the Frankston Swim Classic will also be kicking off on the Saturday morning. This inaugural event will be making a splash on the Frankston waterfront the Saturday morning of the Festival. Swimmers can take part in a 400m, 1.2km and 2.5km swim. The event will have limited entries, so it’s a great chance to be part of history!
Over 30 food trucks will be onsite to keep tummies full and amusement rides will be there to thrill patrons. For families looking for free entertainment suited to all ages, don’t miss the BMX Trick Shows, Canoeing and abseiling with Scouts Victoria, Nature Crown making and Circus act performances in the Dreaming Space.
The Waterfront Festival will be held on February 10, noon – 10pm and February 11, noon – 8pm. For more information, visit https://www.discoverfrankston.com/waterfront-festival
