It pays to say G’day on Neighbour Day

Neighbour Day will be celebrated on 26 March 2023. It is Australia’s annual celebration of community, encouraging people to connect with those who live in their neighbourhood.

As an extra incentive, Frankston City Council is offering 15 giveaways of $140 Woolworths vouchers for those who reach out to their neighbours for a neighbour day event.

Whether it be through a cuppa or street party, helping an older person down the road or sharing some soup with someone who is unwell, it is the perfect day to show appreciation for those who live near us.

Research shows us that when people connect with their communities, they have a greater sense of belonging, which leads to improved mental well-being and a reduction in loneliness. It also contributes to strength and resilience in the face of external pressures.

In this way, everyone who reaches out to a neighbour is a winner. The Neighbour Day event was held Sunday, 12 February 2023.
