At the Council Meeting on Monday 31 July, Frankston City Council formally decided on the location of the planned Langwarrin Child & Family Centre.

As announced on 9 June 2023, Council delayed a response to ensure all options for a Langwarrin early years centre were taken into consideration.

A thorough review and investigation has now taken place, and Council has made the decision for the Centre to be situated in a new location at the Langwarrin Community Centre at 2 Lang Road, Langwarrin.

The proposal was initiated and supported by Langwarrin Community Centre Incorporation as a response to a strategic review of their Centre operations undertaken as a partnership arrangement with Melbourne Business School and Council.

The community centre location also follows a review of the detailed findings of the community engagement for the Long St Child & Family Centre, including the petition received in January 2023.

Langwarrin Community Centre is a Council owned facility which will be developed to cater for the Victorian Government Kindergarten Reform requirements to increase the number of funded kindergarten hours.

Council has also progressed work on a Kindergarten Strategy – community engagement will begin in the coming days.
