You asked for new and improved connections across Frankston City to make walking and bike riding safer and easier – and we’re delivering!

The newest upgraded shared user path in Frankston City is the long-awaited Monash Greenlink, connecting our world-class education precinct with Frankston’ vibrant city centre. The project provides a safer connection and improved amenity along the Baxter Trail between Monash University and Frankston.  The project also replaced the existing asphalt shared path between Playne and Elizabeth Streets with a new concrete path, added a new raised platform/wombat crossing at the Clarendon Street intersection, installed special fencing approved by MTM along the corridor, and new signage.

Lighting will also be installed following approval from MTM to ensure safe travel given its proximity to the train line.

The $1.3 million upgrade is one of the last of the Frankston Suburban Revitalisation Program projects delivered by Council in partnership with the Victorian Government. Others include Stiebel Place and White Street Mall revitilisations and the Fletcher Road underpass and lighting upgrade.

Council has completed several shared user path connections in the past 12 months, including Dandenong Road East, Robinsons Road, and Seaford Road, with even more prioritised as part of its Bike Riding Strategy and Advocacy priorities for 2025.
