Frankston City Libraries reopening in stages

The return chutes are now open at Frankston Library, Carrum Downs Library and Seaford Library and Click and Collect is on its way.

Frankston City Mayor, Sandra Mayer, thanked library members for their patience and understanding during this challenging time.

“We would like to thank our Frankston City Libraries members for taking care of our library resources while our physical libraries were closed,” said the Mayor.

“What has become abundantly clear over this time is just how loved our libraries are and this time apart has been tough on all of us.

“All the items currently out on loan are due back from 1 July, so there isn’t an immediate rush to return your items, however we’d love it if you could please include a trip to one of our libraries to return your items as part of your errands in the coming weeks.”

Frankston City Libraries Manager, Tammy Goodwin, said the libraries will reopen under a staged approach.

“It is great news that libraries are included in the Stage 2 Easing Restrictions,” said Ms Goodwin.

“Frankston City Libraries will be reopening under a staged approach to support both the community and our staff.

“Our library members have told us they are looking forward to again having access to the our physical books, DVDs, audiobooks and magazines, and we are responding by offering a Click and Collect service from 9 June, while restrictions are still in place.

“To take advantage of our Click and Collect service, simply place your items on hold via the Frankston City Libraries website or call the library team on 9784 1020. We’ll contact you when your items are ready for collection.

“The return chutes at our libraries at Seaford, Carrum Downs and Frankston are now open for our members to return their library items,” said Ms Goodwin.

“We urge everyone to please be patient as we slowly transition back to being a fully functioning library service.

“Public programs and learning activities will continue to be delivered online for the time being. This includes our very popular 11am Live Storytime on Facebook each Tuesday and Thursday, and our FrankTALKS with bestselling and emerging authors.

“All returned items will be quarantined for 72 hours before being returned to our library collection. We ask that if you or someone in your household is unwell, please hold onto your items,” added Ms Goodwin.
