Frankston City welcomes new Council
Published on 04 November 2020
The Victorian Electoral Commission declared Frankston City’s election results this afternoon (Wednesday 4 November) in announcements which were live streamed on Council’s Facebook page.
Frankston City Council CEO, Phil Cantillon congratulated the successful candidates and thanked all 35 nominees, for their dedication to the campaign and the City.
Mr Cantillon said the newly elected Council would offer a positive mix of experience and fresh perspectives.
“Our new Council includes one incumbent, three who have served previously and five first-time Councillors.
“This is an exciting time for the City – our Councillors have such a diverse array of experience to draw on, to get the best outcomes for the community and I’m sure they can’t wait to get started.”
Almost 80 per cent of enrolled residents voted in this year’s postal election and Mr Cantillon thanked them for having their say.
Mr Cantillon also acknowledged the hundreds of local residents who tuned in to hear who their nine elected Council representatives would be for the next four years.
“I was so impressed by the number of viewers who watched the announcement online today. This is the first time the election results have been live streamed and the turnout reaffirmed how engaged our community is with their local Council.
“I’m looking forward to working with our community and the new Council, to build on our hard work towards making Frankston City the lifestyle capital of Victoria.”
The new Mayor will be elected at a special meeting at 7pm on Monday 16 November 2020.
