New employment opportunities to help locals

Locals are being encouraged to apply for 37 new jobs at Frankston City Council under the Victorian Government’s Working for Victoria initiative.

Frankston City Mayor, Cr Sandra Mayer, welcomed the Victorian Government’s support to deliver these crucial local employment opportunities following the prolonged impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We understand this is a difficult time for many in our community, especially those who have found themselves out of work,” said Cr Mayer.

“Council’s successful Working for Victoria application will provide financial security for those who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic or have been without work for a longer period of time.”

The $500 million Victorian Government Working for Victoria initiative has matched more than 8,500 people that have lost their jobs with employers who need additional staff since it was launched in April.

Throughout May and June, 50 people who lost their jobs due to COVID-19 joined a major cleansing blitz of Frankston City to help prevent community transmission of the virus thanks to the Working for Victoria initiative.

The 37 news positions at Council, offered on six-month terms, include:

  • HR and Recruitment Advisor
  • Payroll Officer
  • Conservation and land management roles
  • Cleaning and sanitisation roles
  • Communications and marketing roles
  • Arts therapist and officer roles
  • Vulnerable person support roles
  • Community support
  • Project coordinator

Cr Mayer added, “Council has developed a $6.434 million Relief and Recovery Package to help get our community through the COVID-19 pandemic,”

“We will get through this together. I encourage anyone who needs support to contact Council for help on navigating what Council, Victorian and Australian Government initiatives may be available to you, your community group or your business.”
