Nova Peris joins International Women’s Day celebration in Frankston
Published on 28 February 2020
Nova Peris OAM will join Council’s International Women’s Day Community Celebration in Frankston next week, to chat about her life in sport and politics.
An Olympic gold medallist, Nova represented Australia in athletics and hockey and went on to become the first Indigenous woman elected to Federal Parliament.
Nova will recount incredible tales from her life which organisers hope will inspire audience members to share their stories, during an interactive session on the night.
The evening will also feature the sketch comedy, You Throw Like a Girl, which celebrates some of the game changing women in Australia’s history.
At the end of the evening, guests will have the opportunity to take part in a networking session where they can mingle and enjoy canapés and light refreshments.
Frankston City Council Mayor, Sandra Mayer, said she was looking forward to meeting Nova Peris and enjoying a night celebrating International Women’s Day with the local community.
“Come and join me for an inspiring occasion at the Frankston Arts Centre, to celebrate the incredible achievements of pioneering women and our everyday heroes,” Cr Mayer said.
The International Women’s Day 2020 Community Celebration will be held on Thursday 5 March between 6.30-10pm at Cube 37, Frankston Arts Centre.
