Professionalism the key driver for Supplier Code of Conduct

In a bid to ensure their contractors demonstrate the same high standard of professionalism expected of their officers, Frankston City Council has adopted a Supplier Code of Conduct.
North-West Ward Councillor Steven Hughes said the Code aimed to ensure the best service delivery to residents, by providing contractors with an expected standard of behaviour.
“The contractors we enlist are not only there to deliver projects and services, they are representing us as an organisation and we therefore expect that they conduct themselves in a professional manner,” Cr Hughes said.
“Council introduced the Code as part of its commitment to ensuring its contractors, consultants and suppliers engage in ethical behaviours when providing goods and services to our community.
“The Code describes Council’s minimum expectations for the achievement of a professional and productive work culture, characterised by the absence of any form of unlawful or inappropriate behaviour,” Cr Hughes said.
Suppliers are advised to review the Code to ensure that the principles set out are met when engaging with Council.
Council suppliers include, but are not limited to, professional and non-professional providers, construction and utility companies, tradespeople, IT services, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers across all industries.
Cr Hughes said the key principles of the Code include compliance with relevant laws and regulations, the avoidance of conflicts of interest, and maintenance of the highest standards of honesty, integrity and fairness.
“We are only as good as the teams we create. Our residents deserve the best and this is just one of the many ways we are ensuring they get it,” Cr Hughes said.
