Reach your creative potential in Frankston City with an arts grant
Published on 03 July 2020
Grants are now available to local creatives as part of Frankston City Council’s business and community grants pool of almost $1 million.
Frankston City Council Mayor, Sandra Mayer, said the grants would help artists and those working in creative industries to do what they love while delivering culturally significant work to the community.
“I am privileged to have met so many of our city’s incredible established and emerging artists, who have the potential to contribute beautiful work and events to the wider community,” Cr Mayer said.
“If you have been dreaming of creating something culturally significant for your fellow residents, please share your idea with us and apply for funding through our grants program.”
The following grant categories for local artists are now open, with applications closing on Sunday 19 July.
Artist Project Grants, up to $4000
The Artist Project Grant will provide assistance to eight individual artists or creatives practicing within small arts organisations to develop new work that can be presented online, on location or at a venue when social distancing restrictions allow.
Creative Industries Professional Development Grants, up to $2500
The Creative Industries Professional Development Grants offer assistance to support eight local artists and creatives to build the capacity of their practice via participation in further training, career development activities, mentorships, workshops and other projects directly related to career development. Please note funding will be paid in two stages.
Applications for the Major Local Community Events Grant will open on Monday 6 July and close on Friday 31 July. This grant was created to fund locally initiated celebratory, cultural and artistic events which will significantly benefit Frankston City residents. Please note, successful applicants will only be permitted to run their event if mass gathering restrictions are lifted.
The significant expansion of this year’s Community and Business Grants program is, in large part, a result of the $6.434 million Relief and Recovery Package Council created to help the City recover from the impacts of COVID-19.
