Young readers up for a challenge

Supercharge your summer with the Frankston City Libraries Summer Reading Challenge.
Frankston City Mayor, Kris Bolam, encouraged children of all ages to get reading and explore their local library this summer.
“If your child loves a challenge, this is a fun way to keep their reading up over the school holidays and there are some great prizes up for grabs!
“Growing up, my favourite part of the library was the graphic novels and the comics. They made me excited to read and escape into a world of adventure,” the Mayor said.
“Anything you read can contribute to the hours you need to achieve this year’s Summer Reading Challenge; from comics and graphic novels through to magazines, newspapers and novels.”
Frankston City Libraries Manager, Tammy Beauchamp, said it was important kids continued to read over the summer break, to maintain their skills and interest in reading.
“At Frankston City Libraries we’re committed to improving literacy skills in our community and this program is a great example of how we’re making reading fun,” Mrs Beauchamp said.
“Frankston City’s Summer Reading Challenge also encourages young people of all ages to explore our library’s apps and branches, and to spend time with family. Reading is a great way to chill out and relax this summer.”
Participants will receive a Summer Reading Challenge record to complete and return to the Frankston, Seaford, Langwarrin or Carrum Downs libraries by the end of January.
Those who complete the hours for their age group will go into the draw to win some great prizes, including Robinsons Bookshop vouchers. The Summer Reading Challenge is open to children aged 0-18 years.
Registrations are now open at all branches of Frankston City Libraries and online. For more details phone 9784 1020 or visit library.frankston.vic.gov.au
