B.I.G Build Expo

Major upcoming construction projects with a total value of more than $1 billion, will be showcased during an expo at Frankston Arts Centre this month.

Frankston City Council’s Invest Frankston team is hosting the South East B.I.G (Build, Innovate, Grow) Build expo to connect local suppliers and service providers to the projects.

Events will be held on Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 August and supported by City of Kingston, City of Monash, City of Greater Dandenong and Mornington Peninsula Shire Councils.

On day one of the expo, businesses will have the opportunity to attend tender training workshops, conducted by Mia Consulting. The workshops will assist those looking to improve their skills in tender responses.

During the second day, developers will present upcoming private and public construction projects and provide critical information for businesses looking to tender their interest in these opportunities.

Due to a COVID-19 capacity limit, 100 tickets are available to attend the day two Frankston Arts Centre event which will also be live streamed for free via the Invest Frankston Facebook page.

Frankston City Mayor, Kris Bolam, commended councils and developers for coming together and employing a regional approach to helping businesses build, innovate and grow.

“The pandemic was a challenging time for the construction sector and this is a terrific way to encourage locals to connect with, and tender for, major upcoming projects in the region.

“Frankston City is proud to host this event as part of our commitment to helping the local economy recover and thrive. For this to happen, we need a regional approach and it is wonderful so many local government areas will be represented,” Cr Bolam said.

“By output generated, the construction sector is the largest industry in Frankston City, worth an estimated $2.49 billion per annum. This equates to 18 per cent of total economic output locally,” the Mayor added.

The event will showcase initiatives from Major Road Projects Victoria and various community infrastructure projects from City of Kingston, City of Greater Dandenong and Mornington Peninsula Shire.
