Frankston City’s youngsters can bring their own touch of colour, creativity and magic to Frankston Arts Centre’s KidsFest Competition.
Frankston City North West Ward Cr Steven Hughes said: “Home is where the art is thanks to the KidsFest Competition! Lockdown has been tough on youngsters and the competition provides a wonderful opportunity for the younger members of our community to express their artistic talent and originality.”
Cr Hughes added: “Do you have a newfound perspective on slow living and inanimate objects in your life that once appeared ordinary? Enter your still life on paper and have it hung on the wall at Frankston Arts Centre’s Cube 37 venue as part of the KidsFest Competition.”
Council Manager Arts and Culture, Andrew Moon, said: “There’s great prizes on offer including first prize ($150), Highly Commended ($50 for each age category 4 - 6, 7 - 9, 10 - 12 years) and the People’s Prize (family pass to see a Frankston Arts Centre season family show).”
Mr Moon added: “For those seeking to ‘brush up’ or build on their skills, don’t miss the drawing workshop with guest Melbourne artist Kenny Pittock. Bring along your everyday object and join Kenny for a lesson in still-life drawing and share in his playful perspective of the seemingly mundane. There will be three online sessions with new rescheduled dates to be announced full of fun tips, techniques, and activities for people of all skill levels.”
The sessions include 4 - 7 years, 8 - 12 years and 4 - 12 years with bookings essential and cost $10 per child.
Pittock works with ceramics, painting and drawing. His work uses humour and sentimentality, playfully responding to the everyday ephemeral and celebrating the mundane.
Pittock's work is represented in many collections including Artbank, the City of Melbourne Town Hall Collection, the University of Queensland Gallery Collection, the Deakin University Collection and the Monash University Museum of Art Collection.
