Frankston Arts Centre’s Open Exhibition competition taking submissions
Published on 02 July 2021
Frankston Arts Centre’s Open Exhibition competition is now open for submissions with a sensational prize package on offer.
Local artists are encouraged to submit artworks for inclusion with a chance to win $1000 in prize money and their own exhibition and opening event. All visual arts mediums are welcome and must explore the theme of Change.
Inspired by recent pivotal global events, the theme is open to broad artistic interpretation and can be approached from a personal, social, historical, aesthetic or climatic perspective.
The competition was last held in 2019 with Karina Laird taking out top honours with her photograph titled Peluquera.
Ms Laird said the win provided a huge boost, adding: “It was great to have my work seen and recognised by others. It has encouraged me to continue photographing things I love.”
She urged emerging artists hesitant to enter to strongly consider the competition. “It’s a great feeling to get your work out of the house and into a supportive environment like the Frankston Arts Centre,” Ms Laird said.
Ms Laird will hold her solo exhibition at Frankston Arts Centre later this year with an opening event on Thursday 4 November at 6pm.
