Frankston City Council continues to support businesses with an extensive range of supports, grants and programs.
Deputy Mayor Nathan Conroy said Council is aware this is a very difficult time for operators and their businesses.
“We want you to know that we are here for you. We understand our business community is feeling on edge and concerned. However, be assured there is help out there and we encourage business operators to take advantage of all the support available from either Council or the State Government,” Cr Conroy said.
Cr Conroy said: “Council’s support complements the State Government’s Circuit Breaker Business Support Package, which has been increased to $460 million.” Council’s supports include:
Frankston City Business Mentor Program
Council offers businesses based in Frankston City free business mentoring sessions. Participants can digitally access our experienced panel of business mentors who are experts in a variety of skills such as management, digital marketing, finances, e-commerce, business planning and more.
Each business will be matched with a mentor based on their circumstances for a one-to-one consultation.
Business Concierge Service
Council’s Business Concierge is available to help Frankston City businesses. Whether it be to access a mentor or navigate your way through Council processes, our Business Concierge is the first point of contact for your business.
Shopfront Activation Grants
Frankston City Council in partnership with the Victorian Government are offering a new grant program specifically to attract new businesses to vacant shopfronts across the city.
The Grant is designed to financially assist with transforming properties into confident, sustainable and attractive spaces that create new business for Frankston City and surrounding suburbs. Up to $27,000 is on offer to revitalise a vacant space in Frankston.
Other business grants
Business operators can use this time to apply for other Frankston City Council and Invest Frankston business grants including Kerbside Dining Grants and Facade Improvement Grants.
Council’s Director Communities, Dr Gillian Kay, added that Council’s revitalised $9.128 million COVID-19 Relief and Recovery Package also includes substantial funding to assist Frankston City’s ongoing economic recovery. To achieve this, Council’s proposed 2021/22 Budget allocates an additional $3.86 million to Relief and Recovery initiatives.
Dr Kay said: “A healthy economy drives investment, employment and prosperity –underpinning a healthy community. The package includes fee relief ($220,000), local artist grants ($25,000), Frankston Business and Industry Chamber ($500,000), Invest Frankston marketing campaign ($100,000), calendar of activations and small events ($100,000) and local business ‘buy local’ reward program and campaign ($237,000). We’re also upping the ante by increasing the Invest Frankston Business Grants package to $350,000.”
Dr Kay added: “The funds are part of our commitment to helping our community get back on its feet.”
