Published on 12 March 2021

Frankston City is bursting with outdoor entertainment and you’re invited!

Proudly supported by Council and in collaboration with businesses, community groups and performers, Frankston City will host the Do It Outdoors Bumper Weekend featuring six key events over 19 – 21 March.

Deputy Mayor Nathan Conroy said the Bumper Weekend has something for everyone – the Live and Local Event Series, The Big Picture Fest, Graze Frankston City, Ventana 2021 Reimagined, The Do It Outdoors Family Fun and Yoga in the Park.

“There’s no excuse not to head outdoors and sample the best of Frankston City – there’s events all across our municipality including Frankston, Seaford, Langwarrin and Carrum Downs.

“We know people have been itching to get outside post lockdown and experience the fantastic arts and culture that Frankston is renowned for – what better way than to get outdoors and experience a fantastic array of entertainment and activities for the whole family,” Cr Conroy said.

Council Coordinator Events, Jessica Schuyler, added: “Frankston’s Do It Outdoors Bumper Weekend is the perfect place for your adventures! The action-packed weekend brings the Live and Local Event Series with great live music and entertainment at four key locations in Frankston and Seaford.

“Live and Local features captivating live music from performers including former X-Factor runner up and Frankston City local Andrew Wishart, markets with great bargains, mouth-watering food and a diverse range of entertainment such as children’s rides and more,” Ms Schuyler said.

North-West Ward Cr Steven Hughes said: “Frankston City’s vibrant and popular annual celebration of Latin-American, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish cultures – back this year as Ventana 2021 Reimagined – returns as part of the Bumper Weekend.”

The popular Ventana Fiesta includes music, dance, storytelling, art exhibitions and online workshops covering dancing, food and more.

Cr Hughes said: “The Big Picture Fest will see renowned Australian street artists transform everyday walls into remarkable and eye catching pieces of art. Students from two local schools are involved this year and we can’t wait to see what they produce.

“Frankston City will become a canvas for some of the best street artists as The Big Picture Fest returns for its fourth year. With an all-Australian line-up set to transform nine new walls around Frankston this is one you don’t want to miss,” Cr Hughes said.

Artists participating this year include Brett Piva, CTO, Dave Court, Ghostpatrol, Jason Parker, Julian Clavijo, Maxine Gigliotti, Melanie Caple and Wina Jie

Cr Hughes added: “Wander the City centre streets and be prepared to witness masterpieces being created right before your eyes. Don’t forget to visit past works as you soak up the creative energy around you.”

Cr Conroy said foodies can rejoice thanks to Graze Frankston City – our festival of food which will have you grazing some of Frankston’s best food and drink packages and experiences from over 30 venues.

“From chef specials and gin flights to two and three course meals and delicious bubble teas there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Foodies also have the chance to win vouchers to attend participating venues and keep enjoying more tasty temptations.”

Cr Conroy said the Do It Outdoors Family Fun includes an outdoor cinema with movies for kids of all ages and food trucks at Langwarrin and Carrum Downs.

“Family favourite Astro Boy is showing at Centenary Park Golf Course and the hilarious Bill and Ted Face the Music is on at Banyan Reserve, Carrum Downs. With food available, all you need to do is bring a picnic rug, sit down and enjoy a great family night under the stars.”

Cr Hughes said the weekend’s celebration of all things local includes Yoga in the Park wellness events at Seaford, Carrum Downs, Langwarrin and Frankston spread throughout the weekend.

“Brought to you by Invest Frankston and Frankston City Council, join any of the free Yoga in the Park sessions with Calm Heart Yoga instructor simply by just turning up in your active wear with your yoga mat,” Cr Hughes said.
