Locals are flocking to Karingal Hub Shopping Centre, which is rocking 40 new stores following the opening of its impressive fashion and lifestyle precinct last week.

On Monday (15 November) outgoing Mayor, Cr Kris Bolam JP, was the latest local to check out the improvements, completed as part of stage two of the $160 million redevelopment.

Fiona Grogan, Property Investment Manager for ISPT (which owns Karingal Hub), hosted Cr Bolam for a tour of the fashion and lifestyle precinct. New stores include TK Maxx, Pivot and a Cotton on Superstore, as well as Skechers, Sportsgirl, Bonds Outlet, Rivers, Jay Jays, Rockwear, Sussan and many more.

“This looks exactly like it did when we approved the permits back in 2018, I’m very impressed,” Cr Bolam remarked during his tour.

“By providing these terrific retail and dining options, the redevelopment is boosting our local economy by encouraging people to work and shop close to home.

“Congratulations to ISPT, the shopping centre and everyone involved. Our community is already loving the ‘new Karingal Hub’, which is the largest private investment in decades for Frankston City, and there is more to look forward to,” Cr Bolam said.

The Centre’s ‘market-style’ fresh food precinct opened earlier this year and the redevelopment’s final stage, the Town Square, will be launched next year. To complement Village Cinema, the Town Square will feature a range of new dining experiences and play spaces for younger and older children, and provide a day and night communal space for the community.

The area will also be enhanced by tree planting along the periphery of Karingal Hub, which Council negotiated as part of the permit approval process.

“I commend ISPT for investing in our community and encourage other developers to explore the benefits of Frankston City,” Cr Bolam said.

ISPT General Manager, Retailer Services, Sam Curry, confirmed the redevelopment of Karingal Hub is on track to be fully completed next year.

“Significant effort went into consulting with retailers and the community to create a centre that would become a complete and convenient shopping experience for locals. We have almost completed all construction and couldn’t be more pleased with the positive response from the local community,” Mr Curry said.

“We are extremely proud of the many milestones we have achieved despite a very challenging retail climate throughout Victoria’s lockdowns, including the refurbishment of the centre, brand new food court, new market inspired fresh food offering and of course the latest fashion and lifestyle precinct. It’s a great time to be introducing the new addition, which further bolsters the existing comprehensive Karingal Hub offering.”

Free parking has been increased to 2760 with a new multi deck car park providing an additional 850 spaces, with 40 per cent of all centre parking now undercover.
