Major road works to deliver a safer, smoother ride along Hall Road
Published on 22 October 2021
Hall Road, Carrum Downs is set for a safer, smoother ride with major infrastructure works commencing in November.
Funded by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications, the Hall Road upgrade works will deliver much needed road surface and pavement improvements.
North East Ward Cr David Asker said the start of the Hall Road works are a welcome improvement for the community.
Cr Asker said: “Hall Road is a major road that moves a large amount of heavy traffic. We welcome these major road improvements that will deliver safer quality roads and pavements for the community.
“We’ve been advocating hard to the State and Federal Governments for these works to be delivered to make our roads safer for all users.
“These rehabilitation works include road surfacing along both carriage ways of Hall Road, between Frankston-Dandenong Road and Rowellyn Avenue,” Cr Asker said.
The contract was awarded to the Bild Group, an Australian owned civil infrastructure, asphalt paving and road profiling company. The works will commence in November and are scheduled for completion by March 2022.
North East Ward Cr Suzette Tayler said: “These works will provide a smoother flow of traffic and access to local residences and businesses. We welcome infrastructure upgrades with safer pavements and stormwater drainage upgrades.”
Senator for Victoria Jane Hume said she is pleased that through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, the Morrison Government has been able to fund this critical road renewal project in Carrum Downs.
The works will improve traffic flow and allow better access to local facilities via dedicated turning lanes, as well as making it easier to cycle and walk along Hall Road.
Senator Hume said: “The Federal Government’s funding of $4.25 million will get you where you’re going sooner. That stolen time from commuting will be given back – more time spent with family and friends or supporting local businesses, less time in traffic.
“And of course it means local jobs, just as we reopen from COVID-19 and get on with life,” Senator Hume said.
These works will cause some disruption to traffic and traffic control will be in place to ensure the safety of workers and road users. Vehicle access to the Carrum Downs Shopping Centre will be maintained during the works.
The works are being delivered in addition to Major Road Projects Victoria’s Lathams Road Upgrade between Frankston Dandenong Road and Oliphant Way. This will complement the local area road network in relation to traffic congestion improvements in the area.
