Published on 07 December 2021
Mayor Nathan Conroy has flicked the switch to turn on the Christmas lights for Frankston City’s much loved 100-year old Norfolk Pine tree.
The lighting of the tree also marks the launch of Frankston’s Magical Christmas – Frankston City’s fun filled Yuletide activities and offerings to celebrate the festive season.
Mayor Conroy said: “What a journey we have all been on over the past 12 months. Since my time on Council, I have been so proud of our community spirit and resilience.
“Like many of you, I am looking forward to Christmas this year and being able to celebrate with my family and friends. At Council, we are excited to be delivering a variety of events as part of Frankston’s Magical Christmas, which is now on until Christmas Eve.”
The Mayor said that as well as the official tree lighting, Frankston City has plenty more ‘cool yule’ in store, including:
- Carols at the Frankston Football Oval on Saturday, 18 December.
- Outdoor cinemas running in five locations on Friday and Saturday nights between December 3 and 17.
- Outdoor Storytime events at the Seaford Library on Thursday 9 December and Thursday 16 December.
Mayor Conroy said that Frankston City is set to glow this Christmas, adding: “Spending time with friends and family admiring all of the magical Christmas lights, decorations and displays that line the streets really lights up this wonderful time of year.
“We’re making it easy this year by curating a list of streets to visit, however we need your help!”
