Peninsula Leisure appoints new Board members

Two new Directors have been formally appointed to the Peninsula Leisure Pty Ltd Board.

Mr David Fraser and Mr Tom Mollenkopf have been appointed as Non-Executive Directors, after the pair has acted as Interim Non-Executive Directors since 1 November 2020. Mr Fraser and Mr Mollenkopf join the Board on two-year terms, concluding 30 April 2023.

Frankston City Councillors voted recently to move Mr Fraser and Mr Mollenkopf from Interim Non-Executive Directors to Non-Executive Directors of Peninsula Leisure Pty Ltd.

The highly experienced Board now consists of five Non-Executive Directors, with a skills-based assessment to be conducted annually to ensure that Board composition and skills are ideal to achieve the goals of the organisation and community.

Peninsula Leisure Board Chair, Julie Busch, said that Mr Fraser’s and Mr Mollenkopf’s extensive and varied experience would be an asset to the company and the community, helping to set the group up for success as it rebounds strongly from its COVID closure last year.

“Both David and Tom bring with them a wealth of experience. We feel very lucky to have secured these skills to help lead our company vision and values. David and Tom will provide their strategic expertise and industry knowledge to ensure Peninsula Leisure and Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre (PARC) continue to improve health outcomes for the Frankston community.

“We are so impressed with both David and Tom. Their passion and strong commitment to the company, the industry and the community is a key step for us to build a strong future direction.

“The company is in a strong position post COVID. April school holidays saw record attendances at PARC, along with the season extension of Pines Forest Aquatic Centre. We are committed to providing quality sports, recreation and leisure services, with a focus on community engagement, health and wellness,” Ms Busch added.

Mr David Fraser, previously an independent member on Frankston City Council’s Audit and Risk Committee, is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor with over 30 years’ commercial and government experience.

Mr Tom Mollenkopf’s background is in law, first in private practice and then as corporate counsel, prior to undertaking a series of executive and CEO roles in the water and environment sector.

Both newly appointed Directors are thrilled to continue with the Peninsula Leisure Board.

Mr Fraser said: “I have really enjoyed seeing the company rebound from the COVID closure in my role as Interim Non-Executive Director, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to the company’s success. PARC is the premier aquatic and fitness facility in the Frankston City and Mornington Peninsula region. Mr Mollenkopf added: “The company is in a strong position to rebound to pre-COVID levels. Both PARC and the Pines Forest Aquatic Centre have had an extremely positive impact on the local community this summer as we continue to focus on providing quality experiences, access and value.”

Frankston City Council CEO, Phil Cantillon, said Mr Fraser and Mr Mollenkopf will be great assets to the Peninsula Leisure team.

“Their expertise and experience will ensure that PARC and the Pines Forest Aquatic Centre go from strength to strength,” Mr Cantillon said.
