Reward vouchers on the way for Frankston City ratepayers

Frankston City ratepayers will receive a one-off discount voucher to use at a Council venue or facility, as part of Council’s COVID-19 recovery support funding.

Frankston City Mayor Kris Bolam said Council understood ratepayers had faced unprecedented challenges over the last 18 months.

Mayor Bolam said: “We are here to help our community, which is why we funded $3.86 million in our 2021-2022 Budget to assist residents’ recovery, including $1.1 million in ratepayers’ discount vouchers. 

“The discount vouchers provide an opportunity for ratepayers to experience the Frankston Arts Centre or the Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre at a reduced price.

“There’s also the option of a discount on an additional at-call hard waste collection which will assist ratepayers who want to utilise this voucher immediately, as this service is available during lockdown,” Mayor Bolam said.

South Ward Cr Brad Hill added: “The vouchers will give ratepayers the opportunity to experience these facilities for the first time or for regular patrons to continue to enjoy them for a reduced price when restrictions ease.”

Frankston City ratepayers can choose from one of three reward voucher options including:

• $25 off an at-call hard waste collection (in addition to the annual hard waste collection).
• A $25 voucher to redeem at the Frankston Arts Centre on tickets to eligible shows.
• One free entry pass to Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre – choose from family aquatic access for two adults and two children (normally $27.50) or full centre access for one adult (normally $27.00)

Full details, including information on redeeming vouchers will arrive with the 2021–2022 Annual Rate and Valuation Notice, due to hit letterboxes and inboxes at the beginning of September.

Cr Hill said: “This is the first time Council has issued vouchers since the late 1990s, when they were offered to assist residents during the economic crisis of that period.”

Despite the global pandemic, Council has continued to deliver important services and infrastructure projects to fund community organisations including Community Support Frankston, Meals on Wheels and Peninsula Legal Aid Frankston.

Cr Hill added: “It is through Council rates that we can deliver more than 150 essential services and infrastructure and this benefits the whole community.

“To ensure our community continues to thrive now and into the future, we’re Building Frankston’s Future. In 2021–2022, we will continue to undertake infrastructure projects that will provide ongoing benefit to all residents through an exciting infrastructure program worth $64.885 million,” Cr Hill said.

Council is delivering over $5 million for the Jubilee Park Stadium Redevelopment, $4.1 million towards the Hall Road rehabilitation project and $2.75 million for the Ballam Park Regional Play Space Upgrade.

Mayor Bolam said: “We are also working in partnership with governments to upgrade our much-loved sporting pavilions and community facilities to the tune of an impressive $20 million — and works will soon start on the redevelopment of the Jubilee Park Stadium to further enhance sporting opportunities within our region. This project alone is worth in excess of $34 million.”
