Applications are now open for Frankston City Council’s new event partnership program – the Destination Event Attraction Program (DEAP).
Mayor Nathan Conroy said Frankston City is a premier events destination in Victoria’s south-east, adding: “The Program has been developed by Council to support the ongoing attraction of events which will enliven the community and lifestyle, drive visitation and result in positive creative, economic and social outcomes.”
The Mayor noted that residents and visitors are keen for events to return to the City as seen with more than 45,000 people flocking to the recent Waterfront Festival on Frankston foreshore.
Mayor Conroy said: “The DEAP is a centrepiece to Council’s program to strengthen Frankston City’s position as a destination for major and seasonal events and rejuvenate the City’s broader visitor economy.
“The Program offers cash and in-kind sponsorship to support experienced creatives, collaborators and event organisations to curate and deliver a single or series of events from concept through to presentation in Frankston City.”
Deputy Mayor Suzette Tayler said: “Frankston is a creative city, ideal for audiences seeking unique and memorable experiences at any time of year. Easily accessed from Melbourne and the surrounding south-eastern suburbs, Frankston’s diverse cultural and natural assets make it an outstanding location for destination events.
“Council aims to build Frankston City’s reputation as an arts, culture and tourism destination by partnering with organisations to deliver high quality festivals and events which activate our spaces, enhance resident and visitor experiences and embrace and build upon the City’s creative arts culture,” she said.
The Program supports events across three tiers, from significant commercial events to major community events.
The program seeks applications from organisers that can deliver creative events which will:
- position and build Frankston’s reputation as a Creative Events Destination;
- deliver high calibre events from end to end;
- enhance Civic pride, transform perceptions and stimulate imaginations;
- present unique experiences which drive visitation and create social media worthy moments;
- achieve significant media attention and reach;
- embrace bold ideas and creative ambition;
- celebrate cultural diversity, inclusion and accessibility;
- showcase the City’s lifestyle and cultural assets;
- expose and attract new audiences to Frankston City; and
- drive economic and branding benefits to the local economy.
Applications are now open and close 8 May 2022.
