Community to advise on annual Council community grants

Frankston City Council has a new process for assessing community grants giving community members a seat at the table.

Volunteer community members and Frankston City Council’s Director Communities will form a new panel to assess grant applications.

Mayor Nathan Conroy said:

“Previously, community grants were assessed by Councillors and council officers, but we’ve made an important change giving community members a seat at the table and more say in how grants are assessed.

“Expressions of interest to join the panel are now open to Council’s Mini Frankston City members.

“Mini Frankston City is our community of residents that gives us regular feedback on key projects and issues. The group is currently made up of over 500 Frankston City residents aged 15 and over, from all backgrounds and suburbs who share ideas and feedback.

“We are particularly keen to receive expressions of interest from young people aged between 15 and 24, seniors, women, people from our disability community, people from culturally and linguistically communities as well as our LGTBIQ+ communities so a range of interests and needs can be taken into consideration. Experience and expertise in not-for-profit community groups and organisations will be highly regarded,” said the Mayor.

Expressions of interest close 5pm, Thursday 30 June 2022.

Frankston City Council awards $125,000 in annual community grants each year to a range of not-for-profit community groups and organisations including Donation Chain, Local2Community and Mums Supporting Families in Need to help deliver important community programs, activities and services.
