Dual themes presented in striking photographic exhibition at Cube 37
Published on 19 April 2022
Striking images by two local photographers are now on exhibition at Frankston Arts Centre’s Cube 37 venue.
Peter Dwyer and Max Lane showcase their eye catching work in the ‘Themes in Photo-documentary and Nature Photography’ exhibition.
Max presents a selection of wildlife nature photography from Australia and remote regions while Peter explores the style of photo documentary in black and white while.
Peter said: “The medium for this exhibition is monochrome, an acknowledgement of my beginnings and formal study in photography.
“The black and white theme is also a tribute to my most influential mentor, the late Richard White, a master of black and white photography, who taught me how to conjure a wonderful image from either the spectacular or the mundane,” he said.
Peter has had a lifetime interest in photography, receiving his first camera at age 10 years and making his first darkroom print not long after. Photography remained a spasmodic interest during his professional career as an optometrist and in retirement became a more consistent activity.
He has acted as a photography judge at club level as well as for national and international salon exhibitions. His photographic interests are broad, with published works in landscape, portraiture and photojournalism.
Over five hundred of his images have been accepted for exhibition at national and international salons and on six occasions he has been honoured as the Most Successful Exhibitor.
Max is a keen nature and travel photographer living on the Mornington Peninsula. He has travelled extensively to pursue his photographic interests including to Antarctica, North America, Iceland, Greenland, India and several trips to Africa.
Max has received over 100 awards across several photographic genres at International and National photographic salons.
See the exhibition at Cube 37, Davey Street, until 30 April – closed public holidays and long weekends. For more information, please visit https://artscentre.frankston.vic.gov.au/Whats-On/Art-Exhibitions/Peter-Dwyer-Max-Lane
