Frankston City Christmas Festival of Lights back after two-year hiatus

After a two-year hiatus, the much-loved festival is set to shine again with live entertainment, lights, and fireworks on Saturday, 26 November from 5-10pm at Davey Street, Frankston. The event will feature a Santa meet and greet, carols, the Bluey Christmas Live Experience, free theatre shows, various live performances, kid’s crafts, amusement rides, the Little Beauty Christmas Market, food vans and more.

This five-hour event is a bright, colourful and high-energy welcome to the festive season. With a dynamic offering, the event has cross-generational appeal and is enjoyed by children, their parents, grandparents, couples, friends and other groups.

Frankston City Council Mayor Nathan Conroy said: “Sharing special moments with family and friends is what Christmas is all about. Finally, after two years of covid restrictions, we’re able to bring this much-loved festival back to the streets of Frankston, so we can share the magic of Christmas with those who matter to us most.”

“I encourage you to get down early and beat the rush – our early birds will see the spectacular Santa’s arrival parade and get a jump start on their Christmas shopping at the market. Frankston Library Christmas activities also kick off at 4.30pm, if you really want to beat the crowd”.

The iconic 130-year-old Norfolk Pine Tree will also light up Davey Street in a tradition that dates back 50 years. After the ceremony, the lights will be turned on at 8pm each night until early January.

“The traditional lighting of the tree marks the start of the festive season and is a moment that many in our community have looked forward to and missed. It brings joy to our residents and bolsters our Christmas spirit.”
