Frankston City’s annual hard waste collection is now underway.

Residents can visit MyAddress to view the specific date hard waste will be collected in their street: www.frankston.vic.gov.au/MyAddress

Residents who have difficulty using or accessing My Address can email gis@frankston.vic.gov.au or phone Council on 1300 322 322.

Council will send residents a brochure reminding them of their collection two weeks before it takes place. This brochure will include information about items accepted by the hard waste service.

Hard waste can be placed on nature strips no earlier than the Saturday prior to pick up week and no later than 6am on the Monday of pick up week. Please note the collection service will not return for items presented after 6am on the Monday of residents’ collection week.

Those who place waste out for collection before these dates risk being fined for illegal dumping. Any excess waste or items not accepted will have to be removed by the resident.

To maximise diversion from landfill, residents will find their waste is collected by more than one truck.

Each household can place a total combined material not exceeding two cubic metres for collection. As a general rule, the total area of material for collection must not exceed two metres across, one metre high and be no more than one metre deep. An example will be printed on the brochure delivered to letterboxes.

Mayor Nathan Conroy asked the community to be considerate when placing their waste out for collection, adding: “Residents can help us do the job as efficiently by neatly placing no more than two cubic metres of waste out for pick up, well out of the way of your bins.”

Residents can have hard waste collected at other times of the year for a fee. For more information about Council’s hard waste service visit: www.frankston.vic.gov.au/HardWaste

South Ward Cr Claire Harvey urged residents with unwanted household items that are reusable and in good condition to consider donating to local charities.

Cr Harvey said residents are encouraged to explore alternative opportunities before placing items out for recycling/disposal during the annual hard waste collection.

“These alternatives, such as reselling, donating or giving away, allow for items to remain in use and even upcycled to support a circular economy in reducing waste to landfill and maximising the use of resources,” she said.
